All you need to know about CAT 2024

The Common Admission Test (CAT) in India is a prestigious national-level entrance exam used to assess the competence of candidates seeking admission to various management programs, including the MBA (Master of Business Administration) and PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) courses in India. CAT is typically held in November and December of each year.

The CAT typically lasts for 180 minutes, with 60 minutes allocated to each section. Candidates cannot switch between sections during the exam. It evaluates the aspirant’s aptitude in various areas, including quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability, and logical reasoning. The exam is computer-based and consists of multiple-choice questions as well as some non-MCQ questions. It spans three sections and is known for its stringent time constraints.

CAT scores play a crucial role in the selection process for MBA and related programs. They are used to shortlist candidates for Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview, and Written Ability Test rounds. Each institute may have its own selection criteria, weightage for CAT scores, and cut-offs.
